Trump accepts Republican nomination for US president

In his first and only speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday, Donald Trump outlined his vision for the country and described what he experienced last Saturday, when he was the target of an assassination attempt.

“I stand before you tonight with a message of confidence, strength and hope. Four months from now, we will have an incredible victory and begin the four greatest years in the history of our country,” he said.

“Together, we will usher in a new era of security, prosperity, and freedom for citizens of every race, religion, color, and creed. The discord and division in our society must be healed. As Americans, we are united by a single destiny and a shared destiny. We stand together or we fall,” he added.

The tycoon assured that he was running to be “President of all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America.”

“So tonight, with faith and devotion, I proudly accept the nomination for President of the United States,” confirmed the former head of state.

The former president also expressed gratitude for all the outpouring of support he received following the assassination attempt he was targeted with at a rally on Saturday in Pennsylvania.
