US President-elect Donald Trump announced the appointment of conservative Marco Rubio, current Republican senator from Florida, as Secretary of State for his administration, which will begin in January.

“He will be a strong defender of our nation, a true friend to our allies and a fearless warrior who will never back down from our adversaries,” Donald Trump said in a statement about Rubio’s choice.
