U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has hinted that he is considering mobilizing the military to deport illegal immigrants, which he pledged to do as soon as he takes office on January 20th next year.
On the 18th (local time), President-elect Trump responded to an article about countering illegal immigration posted on the 8th by Tom Pitton, who leads the conservative legal group ‘Judicial Watch’, on the social media (SNS) he created, ‘Truth Social’, saying, “It’s true (TRUE),” he commented.
Pitton’s post said, “According to reports, the Trump administration has declared a national emergency and is preparing a large-scale deportation program that could reverse Biden’s invasion (large-scale influx of illegal immigrants) using military assets.” President-elect Trump has acknowledged that the military can be used to deport illegal immigrants.
Previously, on the 8th, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that President-elect Trump’s staff was making a plan to fulfill his promise of mass deportation, and that a plan to declare a national emergency and utilize the military’s budget and assets was being considered.
During his presidential campaign, President-elect Trump emphasized that if he becomes president, “I will become a dictator only on my first day in office,” and that he will proceed with large-scale deportation of illegal immigrants immediately after taking office. He began preparations early on to deport illegal immigrants, including recently appointing Tom Horman, who served as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the first administration, as ‘border czar’ (head of immigration policy).
