Newly elected US President Donald Trump upset part of the public yesterday with a new name that will be part of his administration from January next year.

He announced that he would appoint a notorious anti-vaccine fighter to the position of Minister of Health and Social Affairs Robert F. Kennedy younger, the son of the former Minister of Justice Robert Kennedy and nephew of the President John Kennedy.

Kennedy, who for years has been known primarily for spreading conspiracy theories in the field of health care, especially vaccines, is Trump’s already accepted the offer yesterday. He promised to eradicate it from the area “corruption,” And he put it on the Americans’ heart that he would provide “transparency,” on the basis of which they will be able to make their own decisions regarding health issues. He also said that he is looking forward to working with more than 80,000 employees at the ministry, with whom he will “saved agencies from the suffocating grip of corporations.”

Kennedy competed for the Democratic presidential nomination for the first time this year. Due to the lack of support, he decided to run as an independent candidate, which he then suspended and supported Trump. Trump’s announcement of Kennedy’s appointment sparked a wave of criticism that the environmental lawyer was unqualified to hold the post.

“The Department of Health and Human Services will play a major role in ensuring that everyone is protected from the dangerous chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and food additives that have contributed to the great health crisis in this country. Mr. Kennedy will restore the gold standards of scientific research, spotlight transparency to end the chronic disease epidemic to make America great and healthy again.” Trump posted on the X social network.

Like many of Trump’s nominees, Kennedy may run into trouble in the Senate, which confirms cabinet names. The Senate is controlled by Republicans, but Republican senators include many moderate Republicans who may not overlook Kennedy’s past sins, such as zealously promoting the long-disproved theory that vaccines cause autism.

Are vaccines more dangerous during illness?

Kennedy is convinced that vaccines against infectious diseases are more dangerous than the disease, something he has been saying for years, and because of this many members of the famous Kennedy family have distanced themselves from him. He has several ideas for changing the health care system by promoting holistic treatment and reforming the funding of vaccine research.

Last week, he sought to reassure worried Americans, saying he would not end vaccinations but would recommend that states and local communities stop adding fluoride to drinking water, which he says does more harm than good. Fluoride is added to water for the health of teeth and gums, and Kennedy warns that it can have harmful effects on children’s neurological development.

More new names yesterday

Trump also announced on Thursday that he will appoint his former lawyer and ex-congressman from Georgia to the position of Secretary of Veterans Affairs Douga Collinsawhich he often championed on Fox News during the campaign.

He plans to appoint the governor of North Dakota to the position of Secretary of the Interior Douga Burgumawho ran for the Republican presidential nomination at the beginning of the year, but later expressed his support for Trump.

Burgum made his fortune selling his computer software company and did not hold extreme views during the presidential campaign. In his position, he will oversee federal public lands such as national parks and issue new permits for oil and gas extraction.

The U.S. Department of the Interior is not charged with policing, but it does have some jurisdiction over indigenous tribes. Burgum will replace in the position Deb Haalandwho is the first indigenous woman in this position, or in the position of minister of the US federal government in general.
