A number of Donald Trump’s nominees and candidates for positions in his incoming administration have received bomb and ambush threats in the past few hours. On Wednesday, according to the Reuters agency, the spokeswoman for the elected American president, Karoline Leavittová, informed about it.

The American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that “numerous” bomb threats and incidents of the so-called records and investigates swatting. Swatting refers to the procedure where the police are urgently called to someone’s home under false pretenses. This tactic has become popular in recent years.

Leavitt said the unnamed candidates and nominees were the targets of “violent, un-American threats against their lives and those who live with them” on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

“In response, security forces acted swiftly to ensure the safety of those targeted (threats). President Trump and the entire transition team are grateful for their swift action,” the spokeswoman said.

Among the victims is, among others, Matt Gaetz, whom Trump initially wanted as the next Minister of Justice, and Republican Elise Stefanikova, whom Trump proposed for the position of US ambassador to the United Nations.

According to an unnamed AP source, future White House chief of staff Susie Wiles and Pam Bondi, who Trump chose to replace Gaetz, were also targeted. Neither immediately responded to a request for comment.

Stefanikova was the first to announce that her residence in the state of New York had become the target of a bomb threat. She found out about her when she and her family were returning home from Washington for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Former New York congressman and Trump’s nominee for the post of head of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lee Zeldin, in turn, said that a “pipe bomb threat with a pro-Palestinian theme” was sent to his home. Neither he nor his family were home at the time.
