Trump’s former right-hand man is out: this man is a dictator

John Kelly, the retired general of the United States Marine Corps, who held the position of White House chief of staff from 2017 to 2019, expressed sharp criticism of Donald Trump in a series of interviews made public on Tuesday. In a statement to The New York Times

Kelly opined that Trump “fits the definition of a fascist” and favors “a dictatorial approach to governance.”

According to the former chief of staff, Trump does not understand the US Constitution and the concept of the rule of law. Kelly also warned that if Trump were to return to the White House, he would try to rule in an authoritarian manner.

The relationship between the two men has soured in recent years and they have expressed their mutual disdain for each other. This is not the first time Kelly has criticized Trump in public forums.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung dismissed Kelly’s claims. He said in a statement: “Kelly has made a clown out of himself with these stories.”

Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris, point to a statement by Trump in December, when the former president said that if he won the 2024 election, he would be “a dictator, but only on the first day” to close the southern border with Mexico and expand oil drilling. According to Harris and his party, Trump is a threat to American democracy.

With less than two weeks left until the November 5 election, the debate is expected to intensify On Trump’s suitability and possible effects on democracy.
