The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk was dismissed due to the prison sentence he received for membership of an armed terrorist organization, and Mardin Governor Tuncay Akkoyun was appointed as Deputy Mayor. In the statement of the Ministry, it was also stated that Batman Mayor Gülistan Sönük was dismissed due to her sentence for being a member of an armed terrorist organization and Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp was appointed as Deputy Mayor of Batman. b) Due to the ongoing investigation carried out by Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor for the crime of BEING A MEMBER OF ARMED TERRORIST ORGANIZATION within the scope of the investigation numbered 2024/466; Mehmet KARAAYILAN was suspended from duty by the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a temporary measure in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipality Law No. 5393. In accordance with Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipality Law No. 5393, Halfeti District Governor Hakan BAŞOĞLU was appointed as the Deputy Mayor of Halfeti by the Şanlıurfa Governorship. Events were banned in Mardin for 10 days
Mardin Governorship announced that events such as open and closed meetings, marches, press releases and sit-in protests throughout the province have been banned for 10 days.
In the statement made by the Governorship, it was stated that programs other than the events deemed appropriate by the Governorship and district governorship authorities were banned between 4-14 November.
