In a video address to the nation following a meeting of the Turkish government, the head of state said that in 2026 Türkiye plans to receive the first signal of the national 5G communication network.

Before this, Türkiye will hold a tender in 2025 as part of the project to create this network.

At the end of November 2024, the country’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu, announced plans to launch a 5G network in Turkey in 2026 on CNN Turk.

Then the head of the Ministry of Transport said that the tender for the creation of a national 5G network could be launched in the first quarter of 2025, and the network is planned to be put into operation in early 2026.

Testing 5G technology passed in Turkey in 2022. The first test of fifth generation mobile communications took place at Istanbul International Airport.
