It’s summer, the heat has finally arrived and with it the opportunity to explore Portugal, with refreshing dips in the interior of the country and walks along the main rivers. On the Guadiana, we invite you to visit Mértola, the museum town of Alentejo, beautiful inside and out. Stroll through the historic centre to discover the heritage and regional flavours.
In Alentejo, Alqueva is an increasingly popular destination and a new bathing area was recently opened: Praia do Lago, which has two floating pools, connected by a walkway. This beach is part of the Moura – Alqueva Nautical Station, but the region has six others that showcase the inland areas and guarantee a summer full of fun and adventures in the water.

In the Centro region, the Mondego offers many options for moments of fun on the various beaches and river leisure areas, many of which can be reached on foot or by bicycle, from the new Ecovia do Mondego, which follows the river for 40 km, connecting the districts of Coimbra to Viseu and will soon reach the sea, at Figueira da Foz. This new Ecovia connects to the Ecopista do Vouga, which follows the river of the same name.
The Passeio Verde (Green Walk) runs along the banks of the Tagus and Ocreza rivers. In the heart of the Beira Baixa region, surrounded by monumental nature, you can walk along trails and walkways, discover river beaches and see the largest colony of griffon vultures in the country.
