two companies will dominate the market for weight loss drugs for a long time

According to Heikki Urpelainen, portfolio manager of the Finnish investment company LähiTapiola, the US company Eli Lilly moved to the leading position in the race for weight loss drugs instead of the Danish drug manufacturer Novo Nordisk after the latest research results.

The share price of Novo Nordisk, the flagship of the Danish stock market and the entire country’s economy, fell by more than 20 percent in mid-December. The reason was the publication of research results of the company’s new drug CagriSema, which fell slightly short of expectations. The drug helped trial participants lose an average of 22.7 percent of body weight over 68 weeks, compared to the expected 25 percent.
