Two hundred Bolivian soldiers were taken hostage

According to the announcement of the ministry irregular groups attacked three barracks in the Chapare area, Cochabamba department, and more than two hundred soldiers were taken hostage, weapons and ammunition were also taken.

The Bolivian government had previously sent soldiers to the area to help police clear roads blocked by supporters of Evo Morales.

A criminal investigation is underway against the ex-president on charges of rape. Morales denies the charges, and according to his supporters, the government of current President Luis Acre, Morales’ former minister and ally, is carrying out “judicial and political persecution” against the politician.
