Two Lebanese commanders of Hamas were killed

The military wing of Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed that two of its militants were killed in Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.

Lebanese security officials reported on Saturday that Hashem Safieddine, the potential successor to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was recently killed in an airstrike, has been out of contact since Friday. On Thursday evening, Israel carried out a large-scale airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, including the compound where they believe Safieddin was staying. Rescuers reported that they had not yet been able to inspect the scene of the attack due to continuous Israeli airstrikes against the suburb of Danije. Since the attack, Shia Hezbollah has made no mention of Safieddin.

Israeli General Nadav Sosani previously stated that the Israeli army continues to assess the impact of Thursday night’s airstrike. He said the strike was carried out against Hezbollah’s intelligence center.

A few weeks ago, the Israeli army began intensive attacks in Lebanon as well,

and has already sent ground troops across the border in recent days.

According to the official announcement, the goal of the offensive is to return tens of thousands of Israelis to their homes in the northern part of Israel attacked by Hezbollah. According to the army, since the beginning of the ground offensive, two hundred and fifty Lebanese militants have been killed, and Israel has lost nine soldiers in the fighting. The leader of Hezbollah, Nasrallah, also died in such an attack.

According to Lebanese authorities, more than 2,000 people have been killed in Israeli operations since September. According to their statement, about 1.2 million people fled their homes, 374 thousand of them to Syria.

The Foreign Minister of Iran, which supports Hezbollah, Abbas Aragchi visited the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Saturday – after Lebanon – where he called for a ceasefire in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
