Two people have died after a work accident at a silo on Funen

Two people have so far lost their lives in a serious work accident in Flemløse near Glamsbjerg on Funen.

This is what the Funen Police write in a press release.

Several people are seriously and moderately injured in connection with the accident, it goes on to say.

– The rescue team is still searching the area for additional casualties.

The police’s preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred in connection with work around a silo.

The specific circumstances are being investigated, and the police will not comment further on Tuesday evening for the sake of the investigation, according to the press release.

Since the Funen Police at 10pm on Tuesday evening are still working on notifying the next of kin, the police will not say more about the dead and injured.

TV 2 Funen wrote earlier on Tuesday evening that there had been a serious work accident at the Flemløse Biogas plant, where a witness the media had spoken to said that it involved a silo which had collapsed.

Here it was heard from the media that the police confirmed the accident.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency’s online data and reporting system, the emergency services received an alarm call at 18:04 on Tuesday with the message “rescue, collapse”.

The police and “relevant authorities” are still working on the scene on Tuesday evening. There is no message about time horizon.

Flemløse Biogas was built in 2020.

The facility, in full operation, has the capacity to produce seven million cubic meters of gas for the natural gas grid, according to the company’s website. This corresponds to heating 3,500 detached houses or 112 million kilometers driven in passenger cars.

Since 2020, the company behind has applied to expand the biogas plant with a desire to further increase capacity.

The gas at the plant is produced from manure, deep bedding, trimmings from seed grass fields, discarded vegetables from local vegetable growers and maize.
