Two Vietnamese nationals were caught by the police after swinging a weapon at a compatriot and extorting money in the parking lot of a cafe in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
The Hwaseong Western Police Station announced on the 30th that it had arrested a man in his 20s, Mr. A, on charges of robbery and assault, and applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 20s, Mr. B.
Person A and others are accused of stabbing a Vietnamese man, Mr. C, in his 30s, in the back several times with a weapon at a cafe parking lot in Namyang-eup, Hwaseong-si at around 3:30 PM on the 25th, and forcing him into their vehicle and transferring 10 million won to their account.
They later got off Mr. C and fled. Mr. C suffered serious injuries to his back and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. It was reported that his life is not in danger.
After receiving the report, the police secured and analyzed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, tracked the vehicle’s movements, and arrested him near Mr. A’s residence in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju at around 7:50 PM on the day of the incident.
In addition, through Mr. A, they obtained the identity and address of Mr. B, and arrested Mr. B, who had been in hiding in the Gwangju area, at around 4:55 PM the previous day.
It was investigated that Mr. A attempted to borrow money from Mr. C, a former coworker, but when the situation became unfavorable, he committed the crime together with Mr. B.
Person B is an illegal alien who became connected with Person A through a club. It was confirmed that his identity was not identified in the early stages of the incident, so tracking him was somewhat delayed compared to Person A.
Person A reportedly stated during police questioning that “there was money to be received from Person C,” but Person C reportedly said “there is no money to give to Person A.”
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident with Mr. A and others.
