Ukraine does not have US permission to attack Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he has not yet received permission from the United States and Britain to use long-range missiles against targets in Russia.

“Neither the United States nor the United Kingdom has given us permission to use these weapons on the territory of Russia – regardless of the targets or the distance,” says Zelenskyy and adds:

“We have not used these long-range weapons on the territory of Russia. I think that in the United States and Great Britain there is a fear that hostilities will escalate’.

Zelenskyj states at the same time that it is felt in Kyiv that the international aid to Ukraine is ‘accelerated’.

“The aid accelerated in September… And we can feel the difference,” says the Ukrainian leader at a time when Ukrainians are fighting to stop the Russian advance in the eastern part of Ukraine.

Arms deliveries to Ukraine were delayed earlier this year after political disagreements between allied countries led to many stockpiles in the Ukrainian military at the start of the year.

Ukraine has fewer soldiers and weapons than the Russian forces.

Next week, Volodymyr Zelenskyy will go to the United States and meet with President Joe Biden. The Ukrainian leader says that in Washington he will present a so-called ‘Victory Plan’ to bring the war to an end.

The Ukrainian president signed a law on Saturday that ensures more money for the Ukrainian military. According to local media in Kyiv, military spending in Ukraine is increasing by around 12 billion dollars (around 80 billion kroner).
