Ukraine will be a member of NATO, there is no doubt, Rutte said

Brussels – Ukraine will be a member of NATO, there is no doubt about it, the alliance’s Secretary General Mark Rutte said today in Brussels. He told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the North Atlantic Alliance will not lose its determination and will continue to support Ukraine. At a joint press conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his belief that Ukraine deserves to become a member of NATO.

“Ukraine will be in NATO…before that happens, we will make sure it has everything it needs to win,” Rutte said, adding that the alliance is working with Ukraine to get closer to it. Zelenskyi, in turn, noted that it is necessary to do everything for his country to become part of the alliance.

The Ukrainian president also called for further support for his country. “If our partners do not lose their unity, we will not lose,” he believes. “We will not lose unity,” Rutte responded.

Today, Zelenskyj also spoke with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fic about the war in Ukraine, against which Russia has been fighting for over two and a half years. “I told Fico a lot of things today,” he said when asked by journalists, without being specific. But he said that Slovakia should help his country, otherwise he will feel what Putin can do to him. He is convinced that he will never stop “if we don’t stop him”.
