A handful of Ukrainian soldiers are being hailed as true heroes for their actions in evacuating their comrades while surrounded by Russian forces during the incursion of Kiev forces into Russia’s Kursk region.

Amid reports that Russian forces had begun to liberate the territory, the Ukrainian Telegram channel DeepState reported on the “movie-worthy heroism of the soldiers of the 36th Marine Brigade.”

The channel reported that nine members of the brigade took up positions in the Liubimovka settlement to help evacuate their wounded comrades, before finding themselves surrounded by Russian snipers.

However, the Ukrainian marines “refused to surrender” and therefore “made the difficult decision” to call in artillery fire on them.

The building they were in was hit and caught fire, but then all nine men were seen walking away, having survived the hit which killed “a lot of Russians”.

The alleged explosion and fire caught on video provided cover for Ukrainian troops to pick up the wounded personnel.

“While in Hollywood, directors and screenwriters are racking their brains for the next scene to impress the audience, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are proving all this in real life on the battlefield,” the DeepState post reads.

The commander of the 95th Air Assault Brigade revealed details of the incursion into the Kursk region, now in its third month.

Colonel Oleh Apostol told Ukrainian news station Novinarnia that his unit was ordered to cross the border during heavy fighting for Toretsk.

Apostol said his troops had only three days to prepare for the incursion, which included the use of MiG and Sukhoi jets, refurbished to carry precision-hit bombs.
