Ultimatums and threats. Musk has clashed with a Brazilian judge. He banned his social network X – Communication – Science and technology

Harsh verbal exchanges, disrespect of laws and their circumvention, or non-payment of fines. Elon Musk called the Brazilian judge de Moraes a dictator and a criminal. He finally blocked his social network X. People who want to bypass the blocking are threatened with heavy fines.

Elon Musk is known for his stubborn attitudes, which are often not very rational. He also has no problem going into conflict situations and suddenly changing his opinion without warning. Or to stand on your head and do something stupid. This was the case in Brazil, where the judge of the Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, banned the use of the social network X. There are many reasons, but the main one is that Elon Musk refused to appoint a lawyer to represent X in possible legal disputes. The duty to appoint a representative was determined by judge de Moraes. Not only did Musk disobey, but he also decided to fire employees in the Brazilian branch and operate the country only remotely. He thought that without a seat in the country he would avoid his obligations. However, he ran into the wrong person, who is known for his tough and uncompromising attitudes.

The whole dispute between Platform X, respectively Elon Musk and Judge de Moraes has been dragging on for several months. Verbal exchanges, or even threats, began after de Moraes ordered the blocking of various accounts on the X platform that spread misinformation and hate speech. Musk refused to comply with the order, arguing that it was an interference with freedom of speech. The hot-headed controversial billionaire called de Moraes a dictator. The dispute further escalated when a judge ordered Starlink’s bank accounts in Brazil to be frozen for failure to pay fines related to rulings against Platform X, both of which Musk owns. Musk didn’t mince words here either and called the judge a criminal.

Finally, on August 30, De Moraes ordered the blocking of X until the social network meets all the court’s requirements. At the same time, he warned the residents not to use X or even try to do so. If they did so, they would face a fine of 50,000 Brazilian reals (roughly 8,000 euros). Likewise, using X using VPN tools is also prohibited. The social network Bluesky took advantage of the situation in the country, gaining millions of new users within a few days.
