BANJALUKA – The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Srpska, Miloš Bukejlović, believes that through dialogue with the Bar Association of Srpska, an agreement can be reached on changes to the tariff on awards and reimbursement of expenses for the work of lawyers that would be acceptable to citizens, the economy and the system as a whole.
Bukejlović said that the tariff changes offered by the Bar Association of the Republic of Srpska are not acceptable, because everything must be in the interest of citizens, the economy and the system.
When it comes to the payment of debts owed to lawyers who were hired ex officio, Bukejlović said that the request is justified, and that the basis and dynamics for the payment will be found.
“Everyone can express dissatisfaction, but the provision of the Law on Advocacy specifies that a lawyer cannot refuse to provide legal assistance if appointed by a competent court. There is a willingness to talk to lawyers, but the broader impact of the tariff must be taken into account. That’s why we will continue the talks”said Bukejlović.
On August 1, lawyers in Republika Srpska entered into a suspension of work in court representation procedures ex officio until a solution is found or offered by the Ministry of Justice on changes to the tariff on awards and reimbursement of expenses for the work of lawyers. A doe
