Unboxing MSI’s Intel Arrow Lake test kit, take a look with us

The Intel Arrow Lake review is coming and we’ve got it tested. We are not allowed to share the results yet, but we can show you the test kit from MSI and Intel.

The complete package is very tastefully done..

Everything we need is inside. Processor, MSI motherboard, MSI AiO cooler, memory and some fancy little things.

In the box there is the processor itself and some kind of tool for placing it in the socket, which seems unnecessary to me, but it might be useful to someone.

Tool and processor

MSI MEG Z890 ACE motherboard

Absolutely luxurious G.Skill DDR5-CUDIMM-8200 MHz (8400 MHz) memory. You can’t buy CUDIMM modules with an external clock generator in stores yet, but MSi bundled them with the processor. In addition, the memory supports Dragon Alliance, so it can go a bit faster than their XMP profile.

The water AiO set, which also brings one new thing, MSI also included an offset reduction on Arrow Lake

The core of the procsor is shifted a little to the right at Arrow Lake, an offset kit is needed for the ideal position of the pump. MSI did not forget him.

I used a tool to install the CPU

And it is…

Of course, we can’t tell you any specific numbers about performance. Recently, however, there have been many speculations that the performance will not be anything extra, as even Intel was not as enthusiastic in the presentation as it used to be in the past.

I have it tested and I say that you definitely do not worry about the performance. Even though the processor has only 24 cores and threads compared to 32 in the Core i9-14900KS, the novelty is often more powerful. This means that the Core Ultra 9 285K at the default profile of 250 W is much more powerful than the Core i9-14900KS with a TDP set to 350 W. We’ll talk more in the review.
