Unboxing with HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad 12X!

As we had already informed you, the Myphone.gr found in Barcelona and the reason was none other than HUAWEI’s big launch event, which “revealed” the news to us HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series, HUAWEI WATCH D2 και HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate Green, but also the MatePad Pro 12,2” και MatePad 12 X tablets! We had everything in our hands on Greek soil and after the wearables, it’s time to show you the new HUAWEI tablets in more detail in a hearty, 2 in 1 video unboxing! Let’s go…

Starting with the MatePad 12X, which we won’t call “small”, despite its slightly smaller screen, it is a premium tablet that nevertheless has differences compared to its “little brother” in several areas. It is heavier (555 grams) and thicker (5.9mm)but supports Stylus and even “magnetic”. The build is obviously quality and the finish at the back is of a high standard, while moving on to the front, we have a 86.3% screen-to-body ratio and a 12″ IPS panel, with 144 Hz refresh rate and 2800×1840 pixels resolution (3:2 ratio).

This is where the good things start for both HUAWEI models since they have the Papermatte technology. The screen has… matte coating and special “nanostructure” so that on the one hand not reflect light than little, on the other hand to offer a nice sensation to the touch, to use M-Pencil but also generally a nice feedback. In combination with 1,000 nits of brightness, the two MatePads are great for use even under strong sunlight. Of course they have settings for eye protection and less strain on them, among others, but also the famous “e-ink” mode for black and white e-book reading with relaxing use and minimal energy consumption.

Inside the MatePad 12X we find the octa-core Kirin T90A of HUAWEI, along with 8-12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The device is running the HarmonyOS 4.2 and the combination is excellent for high performance and multitasking. In the field of cameras, back we find one dual camera 13MP + 8MP (ultrawide), with PDAF and 4K video recording at 30 FPSbut also a powerful LED flash. OR selfie has 8MP resolution and is hidden inside the bezel, in a hole notch.

The sound is excellent thanks to the 6 speakers and “hugs” you, while being strong, when needed. In terms of connectivity we have Wi-Fi ac (dual-band), Bluetooth 5.2 with A2DP and LE but also a Type-C 3.1 port with OTG. Unfortunately no NFC, but on the back you will find it too POGO pins to connect to smart keyboard της HUAWEI which also works as a stand, while it can wirelessly recharge it M-Pencil 3rd generation which accepts “magnetically” in its special slot.

Finally, their battery 10.100mAh (equivalent) offers many hours of autonomy comfortably and recharges quite quickly thanks to 66W charger that you will find in the package!

Let’s go to MatePad Pro 12.2 which, as its name suggests, is… “pro”. So it has additional capabilities and features than the MatePad 12X, although not in all areas without exception. As we predicted, it is thinner and lighter (5.5mm, 508gr), while the back of it in its gold version has one nice pattern and matte texture, for a premium feel and look.

Important changes, however, start from the screen, with the panel being dual-layer OLED with 1 billion colors, 144Hz refresh rate, 2,000 nits peak brightness and 12.2″ diagonal. The screen-to-body ratio is also better (89%) thanks to the smaller bezels and thus, finally, its dimensions are almost identical to the MatePad 12X (1.3 mm longer and 0.5 mm smaller in width). But be careful, since it only fits in the “own” of the smart keyboard and not on 12X. The screen resolution is the same and of course, we have the technology here too Papermatte.

The chipset is also different as it is the Kirin 9000S at 7nmalong with her Maleoon 910 MP4 GPU. Combines with 12-16GB of RAM and 256-512GB or 1TB of storage. OR dual camera at the back it appears to be the same in potential but the selfie is 16MP, with twice the resolution.

The sound is also excellent but it comes from 4 speakersnevertheless it will satisfy you completely. Connectivity is the same except for the POGO pins on the back, but the MatePad Pro 12.2 has that too fingerprint sensor on the power/lock button, which the 12X doesn’t have. Let’s not forget it BDS Satellite Messaging which you will find on the tablet, if needed.

Finally, its battery has the same capacity but recharges even faster thanks to 100W charger (!) which you will find in the package. Yes, the charger has two outputs, one Type-A and one Type-C, while with it you can quickly charge both HUAWEI smartphones and laptops (not at the same time).

The HUAWEI MatePad 12X Replaces MatePad Pro 12.2 will be available very soon on the Greek market and are two high-end proposals but without… extravagant prices, which will comfortably cover the demanding user and the professional looking for high productivity and premium look and construction!
