Uniforms that were going to be destroyed for the civil guards who work in the DANA: “They are not the appropriate means”

The conditions of the agents of the Civil Guard deployed in areas affected by DANA “they are not appropriate” both economically and in material means, according to what they denounce They got up sources from the Unified Association of the Civil Guard (AUGC). This group criticizes that officials are serving with replacement uniforms that were going to be destroyed and that have deficiencies such as fractured wellies with discontinued models.

Thus, the agents of the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) of the Civil Guard are going through a “complicated situation” because they still have, more than two weeks later, “shortcomings and needs” in their daily work. “They have to make ends meet when they have a puncture in their official vehicles or to eat during the 12 hours that their shift lasts,” these sources say.

Proud and satisfied

The officials are working a marked shift from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. that often has to be extended. However, these sources are grateful that the Civil Guard got the agents to sleep in a hotel, something they consider “admirable”but they have not advanced the corresponding economic amounts of the allowances, which is a figure of 80%.

One of the main complaints from officers is that they are not working in the correct uniform. And for the DANA situation, it has provided them with clothing that is discontinued and was going to be destroyed. An example of this is that wellies break and they have to be fixed to be able to work long shifts in them.

Despite all this, the guards are “very happy, proud and satisfied” with the work carried out in “very harsh” conditions. “On television you see half of what there is in the DANA area. It’s all very complicated“, these sources report.

On November 18, the secondment of a good part of the operation ends. The Corps has proposed to agents who want to voluntarily continue in the same situation as the current one. However, many have decided not to prolong it to reunite with their families and return to their provinces.

The Civil Guard in the DANA

In the areas affected by DANA there are a total of 5,290 agents of the Civil Guard deployed. The Armed Institute also has four mobile service offices: one in Catarroja, two in Paiporta and one traveling through the municipalities of L’Horta Sud: Picanya, Beniparrell and Lloc Nou de la Corona.

AUGC has enabled a specific telephone number (651083879) and an email address (dana@augc.org) to answer questions, offer logistical support and provide emotional counseling to civil guards and their families affected by DANA. “This direct help channel seeks to be an accessible and effective space in which civil guards and their families can find specialized and close support,” they explained.

At the same time, several AUGC delegations have already been involved, traveling to the affected areas to assist in the aid and search efforts, as well as carrying necessary material. Members of the National Board of Directors have already moved to the ground zero of the catastrophe where they will go to the affected barracks to meet with the affected agents in order to provide assistance and offer the necessary support in the work of the DANA.
