UnifyDrive is preparing a portable NAS for November

The design, which accepts two M.2 drives, has card readers and two types of video outputs, can function as a router, but virtualization is not far from it either.

UnifyDrive is one Kickstarter project he gauged the interest in the framework, and then collected the money UT2 model number portable NAS, and since they have so far managed to meet the target amount of $20,000 more than fourteen times (although at the time of writing there are still 43 days left to close), it looks like production has been given the green light.

The brain of the 170 mm long, 85 mm wide and 21 mm thick structure without the silicone rubber protective case is provided by an eight-core Rockchip RK3588C processor (four ARM Cortex-A76 plus four ARM Cortex-A55 cores) scalable up to 2.4 GHz, which is provided by ARM It was supplemented with a Mali-G610 MC4 GPU, 8 GB of LPDDR4X memory, 32 GB of eMMC flash storage and a neural accelerator capable of performing 6 trillion operations per second. Weighing 306 grams, the device can also be used as a mobile media center. Two M.2 NVMe SSDs with a total capacity of 16 TB can be found inside, and the system has active cooling. The device housing has an SD/TF and a CFexpress Type-B/Type-A (the latter requires a Type-A adapter) card reader, a 2.1 HDMI output, a DisplayPort sub-mode USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, the battery for charging, we can also find a USB Type-C socket, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A connector and a 2.5 gigabit Ethernet, but the Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth 5.0 module is also not missing, it can be driven in single-disk, RAID1 and UDR modes from his arsenal. The ceiling of the sequential read/write speed available with SSDs is around 810/770 MB/s (with cards 312/312 MB/s), and in addition to exFAT, the NTFS file system is also supported.

The new plug and play feature allows you to turn it into a wireless access point (AP mode) and create a backup from a memory card with the push of a single button, which is useful for photographers who are often on the go, for example. With UT2, we can initiate automatic cloud synchronization with platforms such as Google Drive and Dropbox, but the designers are also working on OneDrive integration.

With the solution promising 4K, 8K and HDR video playback, virtual devices can be created (for example, for testing mobile applications) and made visible for remote access, thus facilitating the work of members of smaller teams located in geographically different locations. The operating system promises future owners capabilities that benefit from artificial intelligence algorithms (generation of AI subtitles, conversion of speech into written text, various searches, etc.), and among the included accessories there is a remote control.

The total purchase price of the product, which is expected to be delivered in November, will be $600 (net), which includes the cost of sending the package, but early supporters can get away with it for $400/450/500 (net). If we were to buy a double pack, thanks to the discount, we can expect to spend (net) 800 dollars, and the triple set costs (net) 1,200 dollars.
