Unlikely to see iPhones with zero bezels until 2026

Phone without bezels around the screen, none this remains a dream, even though screen bezels have been getting smaller in recent years. Apple has reportedly been working with Samsung Display and LG Display for years to come up with a bezel-less iPhone display, but it’s nowhere near production yet.

Initially, Apple wanted to release an iPhone with “zero frame” in 2025 or 2026. A new report out of Korea today says that even a 2026 launch is currently not possible and that’s because the technology just isn’t there yet, it’s not mature enough to see it commercially available in devices.

Apple’s deep desire is obviously to keep a flat screen, but there will be a distinct angle on the sides – a quad micro curve design. This idea has won over many Chinese smartphone makers, but the report about Apple likens what the company wants to do to the design of the Apple Watch screen. Either way, Apple doesn’t want to get to the point where we’re talking about a curved screen and distortion at the edges.

The company seems to have a very specific idea of what it wants, but unfortunately it seems that this cannot be implemented in mass production yet, so the dream of an iPhone with zero bezels is probably postponed from 2027 onwards!
