A woman’s breasts unexpectedly grew after getting her Pfizer vaccine, in a first-of-its-kind case that stunned doctors.
Specifically, a 19-year-old Canadian woman reported a highly unusual medical experience after receiving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine: Her breasts quadrupled in size within six months.

Unexplained post-vaccination abnormality
The young woman, who had no medical history or other conditions, received the first dose of the vaccine in September 2022, according to dailymail. Soon, she noticed an itchy sensation and a gradual increase in her breasts. After the second dose the symptoms worsened and over the next six months the breast size increased from a B cup to a triple G cup.
Consulted by doctors, investigations showed slightly swollen lymph nodes and an increased density of blood vessels in the breast tissue. The good news is that no tumor masses or other obvious problems were discovered.
Doctors diagnosed the young woman with pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH), an extremely rare benign condition that causes abnormal breast growths. Although PASH was first described in 1986, only about 200 cases have been reported globally, of which only 20 involved extreme breast enlargement.
Specialists from the University of Toronto, who analyzed the case, noted that it is the first time that this condition is associated with a vaccine, the source quoted by realitatea.net. However, they point out that the link cannot be proven with certainty, and severe adverse reactions to COVID vaccines remain extremely rare.
What treatment the young woman from Canada received
The young woman underwent surgery to reduce excessive breast tissue 11 months after the first dose. Doctors removed 2.5 kilograms of breast tissue, reducing the size of her breasts to a double D cup. However, the procedure left her breasts asymmetrical, and the patient is considering other surgeries to correct the problem.
Although it is not clear how the vaccine could have triggered such a reaction, experts suggested that it could stimulate an immune response that leads to swollen lymph nodes, creating the impression of enlarged breasts.
Previous research, conducted in 2021 by the University of Pennsylvania, showed that COVID-19 vaccines can cause temporary swelling of the lymph nodes without significant risks.
“This case is the first to demonstrate a temporal association between PASH and a vaccine. However, further research is needed to establish whether there is a direct link,” the experts said. According to them, such cases are extremely rare, and the benefits of vaccination against COVID-19 far outweigh the potential risks.
