UP Chairman arrested in Anwara – Daily Azadi

The police have arrested Bir Mukti Juddaa Shamsul Islam Chowdhury, UP Chairman of Barumchara Union of Anwara Upazila.

He was arrested on Tuesday (January 14) afternoon from his home area of ​​Barumchara Union. He was sent to court in the afternoon. The arrested Shamsul Islam Chowdhury is the current chairman of Barumchara Union.

It is known that in 2020 Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League leaders and activists attacked and injured hundreds of BNP activists in Kalabibi Dighir Mor area of ​​Anwara Upazila. In that incident, on October 7, 24, 24, BNP activist of the upazila Towhid Mia filed a case accusing 112 people including the former land minister and finance state minister at Anwara police station. The current UP chairman Shamsul Islam Chowdhury was also accused in that case.

Confirming the matter, Anwara police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Monir Hossain said that there is a case against the chairman. He has been arrested and sent to court in that case.
