Available since Friday, Astrobot East a huge critical success with the press (with the 94% rating on MetaCriticand a nice 10/10 from us). It’s a huge success that seems to be (almost) unanimous among players as well, something that is increasingly rare, especially for an exclusive. As soon as the game was released, we learned that it would be entitled to DLC and updates to add new levels, including challenges and “Die & Retry” courses. Today, it seems that the next themes and cameos are hidden in the game’s credits and concept arts!
Twisted Metal, Fat Princess, Rise of the Ronin and more to come!
Astrobotit’s already more than 150 cameos and references to cult video game licenses. Whether it’s exclusive licenses like Ratchet & Clank, inFamous, God of War, Uncharted, The Last Of Us, Horizon, Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter or even the late one Days Gone. But we also have the right to references to cult series in the history of video games with Tomb Raider, Yakuza, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro or even Metal Gear Solid.
Apparently, Team Asobi is still preparing other robot cameos with characters and licenses that are cited in the credits and which are visible in the game’s concept art, but which do not appear in the game itself. This is the case ofAssassin’s Creed, Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman, Croc or even Worms at the level of general licenses. For exclusives, Stellar Blade et Rise of the Ronin are also listed.
But that’s not all. If we look this time from the side game concept artour colleagues at VGC noticed that a bot Fat Princess or Sweet Tooth (from the franchise Twisted Metal) are present alongside the other bots, but they are clearly absent from the game.
Could this mean that these next bots will arrive via future DLCs and updates? Will these future contents (which should be free) be scheduled according to current events? As a reminder, we recently learned that a remake of Croc was in the works to arrive at the end of the year on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This would therefore be the perfect time to include the little crocodile in Astro Bot, alongside the release of the remake.
At the moment, it’s way too early to confirm anything. The only thing that’s certain is that Team Asobi hasn’t finished surprising us and that things are planned for the coming weeks. We can’t wait!
