Both AMD and Intel will be launching their next-generation processors this year. We mentioned that there will be a slight delay in the Ryzen 9000 Series. Sales will probably start in the first weeks of August. On the other hand, Intel has not yet officially announced its processors, which we expect under the code name Arrow Lake-S. However, not announcing them does not mean that there will be no leaks.
Hardware leakers Jaykihnshared several benchmarks for an Arrow Lake-S processor tested at 250W. The unnamed Intel CPU is up to 18% faster than the current flagship Core i9-14900K, according to the results.
Intel Arrow Lake CPU Performance
The comparison table includes two Arrow Lake processors and 14900K. One of the Arrow Lake chips that were tested is an engineering sample, the other is a qualification sample. The qualification sample is naturally a more ready CPU and gives better results. Unfortunately, the CPU name and features are not mentioned. However, according to estimates, both results belong to the 24-core flagship Core Ultra 9 285K.
All three chips are reportedly running at a whopping 250W. CrossMark, Geekbench 5.4.5, and Cinebench R23 scores show the Arrow Lake-S processor outperforming the Core i9-14900K, but WebXPRT4 and Speedometer (both running Chrome) show more favorable results for the Core i9-14900K.
The Arrow Lake-S qualifying sample was 6% faster than the Core i9-14900K in CrossMark, scoring 2,587 points to the Core i9-14900K’s 2,432 points. As for Geekbench, it was 9% faster than the Core i9-14900K in the single-core benchmark and 14% faster in the multi-core benchmark. The gaps widen in Cinebench R23, where the upcoming processor is 18% more powerful than the i9-14900K.
On the other hand, the Core i9-14900K was faster in Chrome-based tests. WebXPRT4 says the Raptor Lake Refresh flagship is 4% better. In Speedometer, the difference is 10%.
Arrow Lake-S Qualification Example | Core i9-14900K | The Difference | |
---|---|---|---|
CrossMark | 2,587 | 2,432 | Arrow Lake-S QS 6% faster |
WebXPRT4 3.73 Chrome v114 | 372 | 388 | Core i9-14900K 4% faster |
Speedometer 2.1 Chrome v114 | 472 | 521 | Core i9-14900K 10% faster |
Geekbench 5.4.5 Single Core | 2,455 | 2,432 | Arrow Lake-S QS 9% faster |
Geekbech 5.4.5 Multi Core | 27,381 | 23,902 | Arrow Lake-S QS is 14% faster |
Cinebench R23 | 43,118 | 36,681 | Arrow Lake-S QS 18% faster |
