The Japanese manufacturer is updating the Toyota Mirai, its hydrogen fuel cell sedan, with the arrival of new technological features.
Launched in 2020, the second generation of Toyota Mirai is Toyota’s flagship: this year it benefits from a technological update, with the arrival of new equipment.
Numerous safety and driver assistance systems
The “2024” model year of the Toyota Mirai now comes standard with new safety and driver assistance systems “Toyota T-Mate”, more efficient. It includes an optimized Toyota Safety Sense system, with the pre-collision system (PCS) which can now identify the risks of frontal collisions, and take into account traffic on two lanes, as well as cyclists and vehicles approaching from the side.
The Emergency Steering Assist system now takes into account motorcyclists, in addition to pedestrians, cyclists and parked vehicles. The intelligent adaptive cruise control down to a standstill (Full Range Adaptive Cruise Control, ACC) has been improved to provide a faster and more natural response.
The new Overtake Prevention Support prevents unintentional overtaking of other vehicles on the right, while the Lane Trace Assist (LTA) provides a more natural feel. The Rear Vehicle Approaching Indicator warns the driver when a vehicle is approaching at high speed, for example on a motorway.
The Toyota Mirai also features Proactive Driving Assist, which automatically provides a series of aids for safer driving at low speeds: Obstacle Anticipation Assist, Deceleration Assist and Steering Assist.
Toyota Mirai: full of new features
The 2024 Toyota Mirai comes standard with the Smart Connect Plus multimedia systemaccompanied by a new 12.3 inch touch screenand equipped with connected GPS navigation, allowing it to benefit from road information updated in real time. In addition, the instrument cluster series now becomes fully digital, with a 12.3-inch customizable screen according to the driver’s preferences, who can choose between several types of dials, and the display of different information useful for driving.
In addition to these new features, users can also use voice commands via theassistant vocal “Hey Toyota” embedded system, which allows users to interact with the embedded system using natural language, and connect their smartphones using Apple CarPlay wireless and Android Auto wired. The Mirai’s five USB ports now adopt a wired connector USB-C.
The Toyota Mirai also features the digital key as standard, thanks to the MyToyota smartphone application, which allows up to five people to access the vehicle and start it without a key. Its use can be practical for family use, or as part of a shared vehicle for professional use.
The 2024 Toyota Mirai is now available to order in Europe.
