Update iOS 18.1 and fix iPhone 16 random restarts

A hot topic of discussion and heavy backlash over the past week has been the frustrating bug that randomly reboots some new models iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. Affected users see their iPhone screen either become unresponsive and remain “frozen”, or touch does not work smoothly and then the phone it restarted by itself.

The problem seems to occur randomly and could also affect devices used in standby mode. Some users have seen 10 to 20 crashes per day, while other users have seen fewer reboots.

The solution is now coming via iOS 18.1 which also fixes several other bugs, including a Podcast issue that could cause unplayed episodes to be marked as viewed. Also addresses a stuttering or overheating issue when cleaning 4K 60fps video in the Photos app, and fixes an issue that prevented digital car keys from unlocking or starting a vehicle with passive entry after restoring from backup or transferring from another iPhone.
