US election 2024. Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are trying to convince the electorate in two key states

Both candidates made several stops in the two states, Michigan and Wisconsin, and ended the day in Milwaukee at campaign events held just a few miles away from each other.

At the same time, the two candidates emphasized their proposals for the country and what exactly differentiates them.

Harris focused on the importance of the youth vote, which he called the “promise” of America, and insisted on his vision of unity and collaboration with Republicans, while Trump emphasized his “love for the country” and claimed that the Democrat “has hate” the nation.

“She’s not a good person. I think she hates them,” the former president told his supporters, adding that he believed the former prosecutor was “incompetent” and that she was “the worst vice president ever.” history”.

Harris, for her part, insisted on the need to work with Trump’s party: “I promise to look for common ground and find common sense solutions to the challenges we face.”

Several artists attended the Kamala Harris event, including GloRila and Cardi B. The latter gave a speech in which she revealed that she made the decision to vote when the vice president replaced Joe Biden in the race for the White House.

Trump appeals to Arab voters and Biden to the working class

Before moving to Milwaukee, Trump visited the city of Dearborn (Michigan), considered the “Arab capital” of the United States, to seek to obtain votes from the Arab and Muslim community, very unhappy with the Democrats for their support given to the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.

While visiting a restaurant with Arab owners, the tycoon from New York claimed that if he wins the elections, there will be “peace in the Middle East”, although he did not give details on how exactly this will happen.

Trump was questioned by the media about the controversy sparked on Thursday when he suggested that former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney, who is at loggerheads with the former president, should be brought before a firing squad. Far from making amends, the Republican attacked Cheney again, calling her a warmonger, “very stupid”, “a stupid person” and a “slut”.

President Joe Biden, who has toured several cities to support Harris’ candidacy, appeared at a union headquarters in Philadelphia on Friday to highlight his administration’s work to support workers, including pension protection.

“The middle class built this country, and the unions built the middle class,” Biden said, repeating one of his best-known lines and drawing applause from those present.

Unions have been a mainstay of political support for Biden throughout his political career, and now the president is trying to shift that support from the working class to Harris in states where the working class has a significant electoral weight, such as Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Michigan and Wisconsin are part of the so-called “blue wall” states, traditionally Democratic due to the urban African-American vote and the white working class, but in 2016 these states tipped the scales in favor of former President Donald Trump.

Biden won them back in 2020 for the Democrats, but four years later they are at risk again: polls predict a close race.
