“Out of an abundance of caution, the Embassy will be closed and Embassy employees are instructed to shelter in place,” the US State Department for Consular Affairs said in a post on X.
“The US Embassy advises American citizens to be prepared to take shelter immediately in case an air alert is announced.”
The news comes just days after the Biden administration announced it would allow US-made weapons to be fired at targets in Russia.
Moscow said on Tuesday that Ukraine had hit Russia with six US-supplied long-range ATACMS missiles.
