The US and Japan are close to finalizing an agreement to restrict technology exports to China, despite Japanese fears of possible retaliation from Beijing.
The United States and Japan are close to striking a deal that would limit technology exports to China’s chip industry, the Financial Times wrote on Tuesday, citing Reuters.
Sources confirmed that finalization of the deal is close and is aimed at restricting China’s access to advanced technology essential for chip production.
However, Japan has expressed concern about possible retaliation from Beijing against Japanese companies. Officials in Tokyo fear that Beijing could target Japanese businesses in response to these trade restrictions.
