Enable Google Clock’s ‘Bedtime Mode’
Anyone who has a Google Pixel smartphone always uses Google’s Clock app. This is clear and full of useful functions, including the ‘Bedtime mode’ that we talk about in this article. Do you have another alarm clock app? Then you can download the Google Clock in the Play Store via the link below.
If you open the Clock app, you will see several menus at the bottom of the screen. For this tip, go to ‘Bedtime’. Here, click ‘Get started’ to enable the mode. In the menu you choose which days you want to get up at what time. By setting this, you don’t have to set an alarm every night.
To help you wake up, you can also choose the ‘Sunrise alarm clock’. This gradually brightens your phone’s screen to illuminate your dark bedroom and mimic the sunrise. Hopefully this will make you get up a little easier.
Set your favorite song as an alarm clock
Music can also help you get up. Especially those songs that give you a lot of energy, whether it is Gerard Joling, Boef or Skrillex. In the ‘Bedtime’ menu you will also find the ‘Sound’ option during setup.
If you click on this, you can choose from the different alarm clocks on your phone or a song on YouTube Music or Spotify. Nothing is too crazy, as long as it helps you get up – so we do not recommend using a lullaby as an alarm clock.
Start a Google Assistant routine
Do you have a smart home or do you wake up better when someone is talking to you? When setting the ‘Bedtime’ mode, immediately select ‘Google Assistant routine’.
This allows you to give the Assistant tasks when your alarm goes off, for example to read the weather forecast, share the day’s schedule or play the news. Handy and you know exactly how your day is going.
Then one more small personal tip: put your phone with alarm clock on the charger a few meters away. For example, you have to get out of bed to turn off your alarm clock and your phone is less distracting before you go to sleep. So win-win!
Finish the installation of the ‘Bedtime’ mode by setting a bedtime and you are all set. Hopefully you can now get out of bed easier and faster.
