Users are annoyed by the battery of the iPhone 16

The iPhone 16 receives quite a bit of criticism. On the Apple Support Communities forum and platforms such as Reddit, users are complaining about iOS 18, which puts a huge impact on the phone’s battery.

Since the beta of iOS 18, there have been complaints online about a battery that drains quickly, but at the time those complaints were about older Apple smartphones. This time it is about the brand new iPhone 16 series, which launched last month.

Users report, among other things, a battery percentage of 60 percent after half a day, without actually using the phone. Of course, the new models have a lot of new functionalities, but even with certain functions disabled, things don’t seem to get any better.

Standby the problem with iPhone 16

The iPhone 16 models seem to consume a lot of battery mainly in standby mode. Based on the battery data within the settings, users report that a lot of background activity is measured at those times.

One user even says: “There’s definitely something going on at Apple. This morning I unplugged my phone from the charger at 95 percent and it held that charge for 20 minutes. After that, things happened quickly and I was losing one percent every five minutes without even getting into the was nearby.”

On Reddit a user even did a test with his old iPhone 14 Pro, where the battery was still at 85 percent after 36 hours, while that of the iPhone 16 Pro was only at 58 percent.

Seems like a problem at Apple

It is difficult to identify such problems, because everyone uses their iPhone differently. But disabling features like ProMotion, Always On, Widgets and Background Refresh should definitely make a difference. That does not seem to be the case now.

Some users are reporting improvements since the iOS 18.0.1 update, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be working for everyone. And if so many people report problems, then there must actually be something going on.

In addition to the battery issues, some iPhone 16 Pro users also reported that their devices frequently freeze and restart.
