MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi finished on the podium at the “6 Hours of Fuji” race.
It is another achievement for Rossi in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), as well his first podium in the series.
Rossi and teammates Maxim Martin and Ahmad Al Harti put their #46 BMW M4 in third place in the LMGT3 class. They finished behind Ferrari and Porsche.
Rossi drove the last part of the race for his team and made two overtakes in the same corner. In two rounds, he advanced five positions.
They started the race in 12th place.
“We are so happy”said the Doctor. “It’s a very good feeling after our unfinished race in Austin two weeks ago.“
“This race was tough but Ahmad, Maksim and I did a fantastic job and our team made a perfect strategy and once again perfect pit stops.”
“This is our second podium this season and we are very happy!”
Vensan Vos, Team Director of the WRT team, said: “We didn’t have the fastest car, but we did some magic in terms of strategy.
“The drivers and the team showed a great performance, and now to stand on the podium, we couldn’t even dream of it at the beginning of the weekend.”
