Valuable Russian drone crashes into warehouse in Russia

In the Russian town of Taganrog on the Sea of Azov, Russian Orion reconnaissance and combat drone hit a timber warehouse, causing an explosion and subsequent fire that gutted a key civilian facility. Footage of the incident appeared on social media, where Ukrainians ridiculed the Russians for their bungling.

The accident occurred just 40 kilometres from the border with Ukraine. The Orion drone was probably sent by the Russian army to monitoring the movement of Ukrainian troops and equipment. Ultimately, the drone crashed and destroyed a key facility for the city that stored timber for local producers.

This is not the first time this type of incident has happened. Russian drone crashes and destroys Russian civilian facility. Recently, such events have been occurring more and more often, and this is due to the production problems of the Russians. Due to sanctions, the Kremlin has limited access to electronics. This leads to situations in which they often fail and the army loses valuable machines.

Surveillance drones are worth hundreds, even millions of dollars. In this case, the drone was extremely valuable to the Russians. It is said that 30 Orion-E drones have been produced so far. They are similar to Iranian Shahed-129 drones and at the same time the equivalent of the American drone MQ-1 Predator.
