Vaso Papandreou died at the age of 80 – different

The former minister and founding member of PASOK, Vaso Papandreou, passed away at the age of 80, who had been facing serious health problems in recent years.

Her funeral will take place on Saturday, October 19 at 3:00 p.m. in her hometown, Valimitika, Aigiou.

She was the first female commissioner of Greece in the then EEC

Vaso Papandreou joined PASOK in 1974 and was first elected as an MP in 1981.

In 1993, he collected 256,831 preference crosses in the 2nd electoral district of Athens, the highest performance in this district.

Born in Valimitika, Aigiou, on December 9, 1944, Vaso Papandreou studied Economics at the then ASOEE and continued in England where she received a master’s degree from the University of London and a PhD from the University of Reading, and then taught at Oxford.

He was, among others, Deputy Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology (1985-1986), Deputy Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology (1986-1987), Deputy Minister of Trade for the issues of the Greek Presidency of the Community (1988-1989), EEC Commissioner for the Employment, Labor Relations and Social Affairs, Human Resources, Education and Training, and Gender Equality (1989-1993), Minister of Development (1996-1999), Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization (1999-2001) and PEHODE (2001-2004) in PASOK governments.

She was the first female commissioner of Greece in the then EEC. He has also been President of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Parliament (2009-2012).
