Moravian vegetable growers, like the young producer Dobrica Stranjanac from the village of Mršinci, record a successful cabbage season. They note this, as they say, thanks to a stable purchase price of 50 dinars per kilogram, which is a significant progress for farmers after a challenging year marked by high temperatures. Despite the negative effects of weather conditions, the application of agrotechnical measures ensured high crop quality, while increased market demand further contributed to optimism among producers. The foreigner points out that all cabbage is successfully marketed in domestic supermarkets, which represents an important source of stable income for vegetable growers who this year finally have the opportunity to pay for their work.
Favorable conditions this season made it possible to use every fruit. This was not the case in previous years when early cabbages often remained unused or even plowed. Vegetable growers from nearby villages, such as Mršinci, Kukući and Zablaće, share the opinion that this is the year in which they will be able to make up for their efforts. The importance of this season is also reflected in the traditional process of pickling cabbage, which begins at this time of the year. It is recommended that the barrel with cabbage be placed in a part of the house or basement with a temperature between 15 and 20 degrees during the first 30 days of fermentation. In this way, vegetable growers would provide themselves with high-quality sauerkraut, which is part of the long-standing tradition of western Serbia.
Vegetable growers, vegetable growers, do you want an offering?
Sauerkraut, known for its wealth of vitamin C, is an extremely important addition to the diet during the winter. Ultimately, it can strengthen immunity and protect the body from colds. Traditionally, in western Serbia, sauerkraut is valued for its nutritional properties. We will remind you that one head can have even more vitamin C than a kilogram of lemons. This fact contributes to the popularity of sauerkraut in the diet and health of the population.
This year brought good prices and quality crops. This gives Moravian vegetable growers, as well as farmers throughout Serbia, hope and incentive for the coming seasons. A stable market, high demand and better conditions for growing cabbage encourage producers to continue their work and optimize production processes in order to maintain and improve quality in the years to come.
