Max Verstappen responded to those who criticized him for how he drove in the Mexican GP. Among them was 1996 F1 world champion Damon Hill, who said the Dutchman was not fit to compete fairly.
I don’t listen to these people. I’m just doing my thing. I am a three-time world champion. I think I know what I’m doing. I won’t change your approach to the way I drive. I’ve heard this before in my career. It’s my 10th year in F1. I think I know what I’m doing. I have my opinions, but I don’t need to share them.
I don’t listen to all of them. I only listen to people who are objective and close to me. I can’t say the word because I will be punished again. Some people are just too annoying. I know who these people are. I don’t pay much attention to them anyway and I think I’ve reached this stage in my career with the right people supporting me and making my own decisions.
These are good people with good hearts. Most importantly, I know who they are. Some people are a little biased and I mean, I get it, that’s okay. But it’s not my problem at the end of the day. I just get on with my life and keep playing. I think I know what I’m doing
said Verstappen, adding that the risk he takes by driving with the style he has chosen to drive sometimes works out for him and sometimes it doesn’t, meaning that sometimes he gets penalties and sometimes not.
I think it’s just that sometimes you win something and sometimes you lose, That’s generally how it is in racing. I like to win. I don’t like to lose. I don’t think many people like to lose. I will try to maximize the results. Some you win, some you lose.
