It is known that authors and composers offer their project, i.e. finished song, to a large number of performers, and eventually it gets its owner, who presents it in the right way. Some singers, like Vesna Zmijanac, however, refused authors who offered them some of our greatest hits, so that those tracks would then fall into the hands of other singers…

It is known that Vesna rejected Svetlana Ceca Ražnatović’s big hits, such as the songs “Beograd”, “Kukavica” and “Idi dok si mlad”, while she once stated that Ceca’s song “Zlato, srečen put” was stolen from her.

In addition to these songs, Zmijančeva played the well-known, one might say timeless hit, “Srce je moje violina”, which is still heard today, and which was sung by Lepa Lukić.

This song was written for Vesna, who had twelve new songs on that album. Since more tracks could not fit on the album, Vesna had to choose between the songs “Srce je moje violina” and “Lilacs”.

However, the singer chose “Lilacs”, and gave the second song to her colleague.

It is also known that Vesna rejected Milutin Popović’s song “Vidovdan” by Zahar, which was later made famous by the singer Goca Lazarević.

– “Vidovdan” was not meant for me but for Vesna, but I didn’t get it by accident. I wanted her a lot and in the end she ended up with me. Vesna turned her down because she did not want to jeopardize her Yugoslav popularity, which I did not have. That song does not carry a nationalist message, but a message of truth. I love all people and I know what it’s like for those who are in the minority, I know what it’s like when you’re in an environment where you don’t feel good – said Goca once.
