According to the chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasyl Maluk for the TV station CNNthe Sea Baby drone that was deployed emerged from intensive development lasting several months. This development took off immediately after the invasion began.

“Surface drones are a unique invention of the SBU. None of the private companies have anything to do with it. With the help of these drones, we recently successfully hit the Crimean Bridge, the large attack ship Olenegorskij Gorňak and the tanker SIG,” Maluk stated. “We are working on a number of new interesting operations, including in the waters of the Black Sea. I promise you it will be exciting, especially for our enemies,” Maluk added.
Footage shows the incredible attack by a Sea Baby drone that delivered a staggering 850 kilograms of explosives to one of the bridge’s massive concrete piers. In addition, CNN has two fascinating videos that show the flash of the first drone hitting the road section of the bridge, followed by the moment of another explosion as the drone targeted the rail section of the bridge from the opposite direction, about five minutes after the first hit.
Maluk revealed that Ukraine’s Western partners showed great interest in their operations and wanted to learn from their experience. “They don’t participate in our operations, they don’t provide us with any equipment or anything. These drones are manufactured in an underground production plant on the territory of Ukraine. The goals I mentioned are legitimate goals according to Ukrainian and international law,” stated the head of the SBU.
The attack on the Gornyak and SIG vessels presented a more significant risk to Russian naval operations in a part of the eastern Black Sea where Moscow previously did not consider the Ukrainian military to be a serious enough threat.
