A video of the moment a cyclist runs over and knocks down a pedestrian in Britain is making the rounds on the internet.
The incident happened in an area of South London and has caused strong reactions. And this, because the incident happened when the child went to cross the bike path in order to catch a bus at the stop that was right in front.
The video taken by a passer-by initially shows a shot of the bus arriving at the stop. At that moment the camera pans to the cycle path, where a cyclist is coming at quite a high speed.
At the same time, a child walks parallel to the cycle path with a relatively fast step. As soon as he realizes that his bus has arrived, he starts to cross the cycle path to catch up with his schedule.
As he steps on the asphalt, the cyclist does not have time to react and falls on top of the child, throwing him to the ground. To his credit, the cyclist did not leave the scene, but stayed and tried to administer First Aid to the injured child.

Important social issue
This incident brings to the surface again the issue of bus stops placed next to cycle paths, as the phenomenon of similar accidents is common.
This is because cyclists often pass at a relatively high speed, so they do not have time to react when a pedestrian is in front of them trying to reach the bus stop. According to the Daily Mail, it is a matter for which relevant organizations are protesting, asking that the stops be abolished from the specific points.
