President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is visiting Lima, Peru to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, held his first summit meeting with Vietnam’s new President Luong Cuong on the 16th (local time) and discussed trade, infrastructure, key mineral supply chain, and defense industry between the two countries. We decided to expand cooperation.

President Yoon, who first congratulated President Cuong on his inauguration, said, “The relationship between Korea and Vietnam is an example that is unprecedented in terms of the speed of development and the scope of cooperation,” and added, “Let us take the relationship between the two countries to a further leap forward.”

President Yoon emphasized, “I hope that the two countries, which are each other’s top three trading partners, will continue to strengthen cooperation to expand investment, and that mutually beneficial cooperation will develop through the continued participation of Korean companies in infrastructure projects such as Vietnam’s high-speed rail in the future.” He also expressed hope that the two countries will accelerate supply chain cooperation centered on the ‘Core Minerals Supply Chain Center’ scheduled to be built in Vietnam.

President Cuong responded by saying, “The Korea-Vietnam relationship is very special and important,” adding, “I hope that the two countries will strengthen trust through active high-level exchanges and accelerate cooperation in comprehensive fields.”

“There are still more opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, and Vietnam will work to strengthen cooperation with Korea,” he said. “Both countries will make full use of each other’s strengths to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and support the activities of companies.” “It’s important to get out,” he said.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction that exchanges and cooperation in the fields of defense and security are expanding day by day based on deep trust as comprehensive strategic partners. They continued to support Vietnam’s maritime security capacity strengthening, such as the transfer of retired ships, and benefited mutually in the field of defense industry cooperation. We decided to deepen our cooperation.
