After a good first NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings are hoping for a lot from wide receiver Jordan Addison in the coming season. However, he has made rather negative headlines in the offseason. Now the youngster is talking about his slip-up and giving an insight into his inner life.
“I was in a dark place,” the passport recipient said after being arrested for driving while under the influence earlier this month. However, he was surprised and moved by the widespread support, Addison explained.
“I was surprised by the support I received,” said Addison after the first training session of the Vikings in training camp. “I didn’t think it would turn out like this, but it was really important. I was in a dark place. I was down and out and they really cheered me up so I could come out here and still play at a high level. Despite everything that happened, I’m going to put it behind me and continue to play at a high level, come here and give the fans what they pay for,” said the 22-year-old.
According to Addison himself, he immediately tried to “block out everything around me”. In the meantime, however, he also received support from his teammates. Superstar Justin Jefferson, for example, affirmed: “I will always be the person he can lean on.”
NFL: Vikings Head Coach “disappointed”
Kevin O’Connell, head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, meanwhile, said he was “disappointed” in Addison. But the coach added: “I’m excited to get Jordan back in our building, get him with his teammates and start the process of embracing him. With discipline and accountability being part of that.”
Jordan Addison is also willing to take on this responsibility. “Whatever is out there for me,” he said, “whatever it is, I will stand by it. I feel like everything that happens to me is intentional or deserved,” Addison is sure.
“I’m just going to keep learning. I say that’s all I can do, learn from my mistakes and keep moving forward. That’s what it’s about”
