Viktor Orban, in Romania, the authorities “don’t have the courage to face him”

“The Government and the Presidency show a total lack of creativity and do not respond to the challenges” that Viktor Orban usually makes, says MEP Eugen Tomac about the Hungarian Prime Minister’s visit to Romania at the Summer University of Băile Tușnad

Asked how Romanian officials will respond to the visit of the Hungarian prime minister, the PMP leader said that “the Romanian state has shown many times in the last 10 years that it does not have the capacity to manage Viktor Orban’s sometimes almost barbaric challenges regarding the presence private at various events of the Hungarian community.

More than once he offended the Romanian state, the Romanian authorities, and our reaction was extremely pale, uninspired. Unfortunately, the Government and the Presidency have a total lack of creativity and do not respond to the challenges”, said Tomac, on B1Tv.

“What Viktor Orban will do is somewhat predictable. He will again try to bring up topics that obviously have a strong domestic electoral impact in Hungary, but also a stake among the Hungarian community, and this shows that he does not care about bilateral relations with Romania, but simply comes here defiantly and issues all kinds of theses which are, at best, just an affront to the Romanian state, although they are quite unacceptable challenges in the European Union”, added the MEP.

“A very correct measure that I don’t see who could do it, I don’t see Ciolacu going to Sequime or Romania’s chief tourist, as President Băsescu did when Orban came to Romania, went, participated in the same summer school and told our ethnic Hungarian compatriots that they will have as much autonomy in Romania as there is in Caracal or Tulcea, so from this point of view there are solutions and politicians must have the courage to face it in an intelligent manner “, said the PMP MEP.
