vivo X200: Official with Dimensity 9400, Zeiss cameras and square screen

It’s official vivo X200 bringing a new generation of Zeiss cameras, a powerful chipset and a rugged yet attractive design.

The X200 is powered by the Dimensity 9400, a second-generation 3nm chip with an all-large-core design. It runs the basic Cortex-X925 core at 3.626GHz and is paired with up to 16GB of RAM, which can be doubled with virtual RAM. Storage (256GB, 512GB or 1TB) is similarly expandable with vivo’s storage compression technology.

The X200 features a 6.67-inch quad-curved display with Zeiss Natural Color, which promises industry-leading accuracy (it’s a 10-bit LTPS panel with HDR10+ support). The display uses high-frequency PWM dimming for a flicker-free experience and can reach up to 4,500 nits. The display also promises three times the lifespan of other OLED panels and lower power consumption to boot. Also, it uses an optical fingerprint reader.

The X200 features a 50MP 1/1.56″ Sony IMX921 sensor, which is smaller than the LYT-818 found inside the Pro, but comparable to the sensor inside the X100. The sensor sits behind a Zeiss f/1.57″ lens with T* coating.

The Oreo-style camera island feature also houses a capable 70mm f/2.57 (T*-coated) telephoto lens. It lacks the 200MP sensor of the two Pro models, but uses a 50MP IMX882 1/1.95″ sensor instead. Additionally, there is a 50MP 15mm ultrawide camera.

The phone is powered by a 5,800mAh BlueVolt battery, which is an 800mAh upgrade over last year’s X100. It supports 90W wired charging (a downgrade from 120W last year). Despite the larger battery capacity, the X200 is actually smaller than its predecessor – a 6.67” display and 7.99mm thickness. vs. 6.78” and 8.5 mm..

Compared to the X100 which had an IP68 rating, the X200 is now IP69 rated, meaning protection against hot water jets.

The new X200 series also features offline communication capability that can send messages up to 1km without cell coverage. It was jointly developed by vivo and MediaTek and is based on Bluetooth. It supports SOS text transmission and individual voice and text communication. You can also share your location and more. To test it, scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences went to parts of Everest that have no network coverage.

The X200 runs OriginOS 5 and new features include Origin Island, vivo’s interpretation of Apple’s Dynamic Island, and a customized version of “Circle to Search”. For the Chinese market, vivo has created an AI model that can handle note-taking and copywriting.

Like the Pro, the vivo X200 comes in Sapphire Blue, Titanium Grey, Moonlight White and Carbon Black shades. The first colorway, Sapphire Blue, is brand new, having a gem-like quality as it shifts under different lighting conditions.
