Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law that would waive the expired loans of Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine up to 10 million rubles, or almost HUF 38 million, writes the 444 following an article by Meduza, a Russian news portal operating in Latvia. It was pointed out that those against whom a legally binding court decision on debt recovery was made before December of this year, or enforcement proceedings were initiated, could take advantage of the repayment option.
However, it turned out that this generosity does not apply to everyone, because only those mobilized, conscripts or soldiers, and their wives, who apply for the army after December, can take advantage of this opportunity, not those who have already been conscripted. The background to everything is that loan interest rates are extremely high in Russia, and most people have almost no savings. Many people take out loans to buy a home, with the central bank reporting that more than 13 million Russians have three or more loans.
Commenting on the news, the Austrian television station ORF writes that the Russian leadership is trying to avoid a new mobilization for political reasons, but at the same time it needs supplies due to the losses in Ukraine. It was recalled that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte recently spoke about the fact that since February 2022, 600,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in the war in Ukraine, and that, among other reasons, they had to deploy North Koreans.
“With the constant threat of nuclear weapons, Russia only hides its weakness”
The United States estimates Russia’s losses so far in the war at around 615,000 (115,000 dead and 500,000 wounded). Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recently announced that there is no need for mobilization because voluntary recruitment is successful. In comparison, criminals were previously offered amnesty in exchange for frontline service, and then immigrants were offered citizenship if they went to war in Ukraine.
Russia has decided to start serial production of the hypersonic missile it used to attack Dnipro on Thursday.
