Volkswagen Group Italia: innovation and sustainability in the new headquarters

Volkswagen Group Italia has recently completed a significant renovation of its headquarters, transforming it into a model of energy efficiency e smart innovation. This ambitious project not only responds to the needs of environmental sustainability, but also offers a modern and dynamic working environment.

The main goal of the renovation was to drastically reduce the building’s energy needs. Among the main innovations adopted stand out the glass panels with integrated insulating screenswhich improve thermal insulation and reduce the need for heating and cooling. In addition, new heat pump heating and cooling systems cover the entire energy requirement with reduced resource consumption.

Greater energy efficiency

Another key element is the installation of approximately 520 m² of photovoltaic shelters with a maximum power of 100 kW, which cover the external parking spaces. Thanks to these interventions, the building has significantly improved its energy efficiencymoving from class C to class A4. The energy requirement was reduced from 228.44 to 40.00 kWh/m² per year, resulting in a reduction in CO2 emissions of 702 tonnes per year, equivalent to 30% less than pre-renovation data.

The renovation also involved the creation of modern and flexible work spaces. The new headquarters of Volkswagen Group Italy now has large open spaces, ergonomic furnishings, coworking rooms and break areasoffering different solutions to work in a way that can be adapted to everyone’s needs.

Marcus OsegowitschCEO of Volkswagen Group Italia, said: “We are proud to have completed this huge renovation project, which contributes to lowering the environmental impact of our headquarters. Now Volkswagen Group Italia is not only a greener workplace, but also a modern, welcoming and dynamic environment”.

The renovated headquarters has all the characteristics to be recognized as NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building), thanks to significant improvements in energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies. This project is part of a broader sustainability strategy of the company, which includes numerous other initiatives.
