Volkswagen is taking the compact electric ID.3 to a new dimension of sportiness. Starting today, the versions can be ordered, starting from the German market. GTX e GTX PerformanceThe latter uses the most powerful electric drive system for a plug-in vehicle from Wolfsburg, with performance similar to or even superior to that of the Golf GTI Clubsport.
The engine of the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX
The Volkswagen ID.3 GTX discharges the power of the electric motor from the rear axle, which reaches a height of 210 kW (285 CV) in the GTX version and 240 kW (326 CV) in the ID.3 GTX Performance. The maximum torque reaches the threshold of 545 Nm for both power outputs, thus exceeding the pulling power of the turbocharged V6 produced by Volkswagen. In the case of the GTX Performance, the ID.3 shows excellent numbers: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.
Energy comes from a 79 kWh lithium-ion battery (net), which draws up to 185 kW of power at DC fast-charging stations. The battery can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in around 26 minutes. As for theautonomy (measured in the WLTP cycle), the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance goes up to 601 km.
Technical innovations
The specific frame of the new Volkswagen ID.3 GTX is equipped with firmer stabilizers and is registered on the high performance of the traction system. The basic layout consists of a MacPherson strut front axle and a five-link rear axle with a sophisticated driving system. In addition, the sports EV can count on a progressive steering that is fitted as standard. As for the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance, this can have the modified Sport DCC adaptive chassis control. The Vehicle Dynamics Manager is able to more effectively capture how the wheels and body move to control the shock absorbers using highly refined algorithms. This methodology ensures precise handling and excellent road holding, and not just in sports driving scenarios.
Personal soul
The Teutonic sports car is characterised by its specifically cut front bumpers, a new air intake independent with diamond design and a customised signature light. The 20-inch Skagen GTX wheel is available in black as an option. Inside the passenger compartment, however, appears the infotainment system with a 12.9” display, the voice assistant IDA with ChatGPT, the optional augmented reality head-up display, a redesigned Wellness app and the premium audio system by Harman Kardon. The new Volkswagen ID.3 GTX is available starting from 52.295 euro (in Germany). The price for Italy will be revealed soon.
